Getting Started
1. How does Veil work?
- Download the free app from the App Store or Google Play and sign up in under 30 seconds
- Browse profiles in Discover and tap ❤️ Like or ❌ Pass.
- If someone Likes you back, it’s a Match—and you can chat instantly.
- For a full walkthrough, go to Menu → Help → How to Use.
2. Is Veil halal?
We offer:
- Photo Privacy- Blur your photos and only reveal them to people you match with.
- Wali Support – We strongly encourage you to add a guardian (wali) to your chats. This can be done at any time.
- Reporting Tools – Instantly report inappropriate behavior, with real human moderators reviewing every report.
3. Is Veil free?
Yes! You can Like, Match, and Chat for free.
We also offer Veil Premium, which includes powerful features to help you connect faster.
All women receive Premium for free, and men can try it with a 3-day free trial.
Account & Privacy
1. How do I deactivate or delete my account?
- To temporarily pause your profile: Menu → Settings → Deactivate Account
- To permanently remove your account: Menu → Settings → Delete Account
2. Can I hide my photos?
Yes! You can blur your photos for all users and reveal them only to people you match with.
To toggle this setting: Menu → Edit Profile → My Photos → Veil Filter
⚠️ Keep in mind that visible photos get up to 7x more matches.
3. Will you share my personal info?
Never. Your phone number and personal details are encrypted and never sold or shared.

4. How do I report someone?
If someone behaves inappropriately, you can report them in two ways:
- From their profile: Scroll down and tap Report & Block
- From a chat: Tap the top-right menu (•••) and select Report & Block
Every report is reviewed by our moderation team to help maintain a safe and respectful space.
5. What is the 'Activity' page?
The Activity page (look for the stack/layer icon next to the binoculars on the footer menu) shows everything happening around your profile. You can:
- See who Liked you
- See who viewed your profile
- Revisit profiles you’ve Liked or Passed
Matching & Messaging
1. How do I start chatting?
You can also use a Compliment to message someone instantly without needing a mutual Like.
2. Can I message someone I haven’t matched with?
Yes—by sending a Veil Compliment. This allows you to message someone before they’ve Liked you back.
All users get 1 free Compliment per month, and additional Compliments can be purchased in-app.
3. What is a 'Veil Compliment'?
A Compliment (🚀) lets you immediately connect with someone you’re truly interested in, without waiting for them to Like you first.
It includes an optional message to help you stand out.
Everyone gets 1 free per month, and you can buy more anytime in the app.
4. What is 'Veil Rewind'?
Accidentally swiped too fast? No problem. Tap the Rewind icon (next to the ❌ Pass button) to go back to the previous profile and change your decision.
All users get 3 free Rewinds per month. Unlimited Rewinds come with Premium.
5. How do I unmatch someone?
In the chat, tap the top-right menu (•••) and select Unmatch User.
They won’t be able to contact you again. The chat history will remain visible for your records.
6. Can I undo a Like or Pass?
Yes!
- Use the Rewind feature to undo a Pass (3 free per month).
- Or go to Activity → I’ve Liked or Passed to change your mind.
7. Why am I not getting matches?
Matches can take time. Here are tips to improve your chances:
- Complete your profile
- Use clear, genuine photos
- Be active and open-minded
- Premium users appear more often and get more Likes
8. Why should I widen my filters?
If you’re not seeing new profiles, your filters may be too narrow. Try adjusting:
- Age range
- Distance
Go to Menu → Search Preferences to make changes.
Veil Premium
1. What is Veil Premium?
Veil Premium helps you stand out and connect faster. It includes:
- Unlimited swipes & rewinds
- Send Compliments anytime
- Be shown first in Discover
- No ads
- Full access to filters and features

Get it via Menu → Get Premium.
2. How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are handled by Apple/Google—not Veil. Deactivating your Veil profile won’t cancel the subscription.
iOS:
Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → Veil → Cancel
Play Store → Menu → Subscriptions → Veil → Cancel
3. Why was I charged after a free trial?
If you don’t cancel your trial at least 24 hours before it ends, you’ll be charged.
Men get a 3-day free trial. Veil doesn’t track past trial usage—only Apple/Google manages payments.
Technical Issues
1. I’m not getting push notifications.
Make sure notifications are enabled:
- In Menu → Settings inside the app
In your phone’s system settings for the Veil app

2. Veil doesn’t work on my Wi-Fi. Why?
Some home Wi-Fi networks have parental controls that block age-restricted apps (Veil is 18+).
Try switching to mobile data or asking your internet provider to unblock Veil.
