Our Mission

Our mission is to help millions of Muslim women get married to compatible husbands and complete their deen together. We are committed to providing a trustworthy and effective matchmaking solution, ensuring that finding a spouse is an intentional, guided process. Veil offers a safe, dignified, and purpose-driven alternative to conventional dating apps, allowing Muslim women to be upfront about their needs and connect with the right partner.

Our Story

Veil was founded by two childhood friends, Olid Uddin, a digital marketing specialist, and Adam Ward, a serial entrepreneur and real estate project manager. As professionals with demanding careers, they found that traditional avenues for meeting potential spouses were limited. Through extensive research and discussions within the Muslim community, they uncovered the key challenges single Muslims face in finding a compatible spouse. In 2017, as smartphone dating apps gained traction, they began developing Veil 1.0 with the vision of creating a purpose-driven and Islamically aligned matchmaking solution.

The Concept

Veil is built on the belief that personality and values matter more than appearance. Research revealed a common issue—profile pictures often failed to represent individuals authentically. This inspired the creation of the Digital Veil, which keeps profile images blurred until a mutual match is made. By shifting the focus away from instant judgments based on looks, Veil encourages users to showcase their personality, values, and intentions first.

Veil also integrates the Wali Feature, allowing users to involve a trusted guardian (Wali) in their matchmaking journey. This ensures a faith-based and respectful approach, offering additional security and guidance throughout the process.

The Market

The global single Muslim smartphone user market exceeds 300 million. Veil serves single, separated, widowed, and divorced Muslims seeking a committed, faith-centered marriage. Initially launched in select Muslim communities in London and Dubai in 2018, Veil expanded globally in March 2019.
